HOLINESS TRAILa spiritual trip through John Paul II southern Poland sites - Wadowice, Kalwaria, Lagiewniki
Somewhere at the feet of Beskid Mountains, in the small town of Wadowice we would like to show you the house where Karol Wojtyla - future Pope John Paul II - was born. You will visit a museum hosted in this house, where some family photograph and his personal belongings may be seen. You will also see the church where he was baptized, where he took his First Communion, and where he used to step by everyday on his way to school. After the visit we will invite you for the "papal desert" - famous cream cake served by the local cafés. It tastes so good that John Paul II would mention it (the taste of his childhood) during his pilgrimages to his home town.
After this sweet Wadowice adventure we will continue to Sanctuary of Kalwaria Zebrzydowska - one of the most important pilgrimage centers in Poland. It is right here where young Karol Wojtyla used to come and pray in front of the miraculous image of Our Lady Of Kalwaria since his early years. It is right here where he came as a Pope. Coming back to Krakow we will stop at the former Solvay factory where he used to work during the Second World War, and at Lagiewniki - it is the place where Sanctuary of the Divine Mercy, consecrated personally by John Paul II, is located. You will learn about St. Faustina and this center of cult of Divine Mercy.
