CITY BREAK – 6 DAYSIn a Krakow's melting-pot of culture, religion and history

We hope that 6 days which you assign to visit Krakow and its surroundings would change into a real pleasure. We will do our best to show you everything which is worth seeing without rush, in a very profound and personal way. We would like to tell you about the past, present and future of this extraordinary city and all the small towns and villages around, we would like you to see a rich diversity of Polish culture and to meet people who among so many places have chosen Krakow and have decided to live, work and dream exactly here...

Day 1. Arriving in Krakow

This day we will wait for you at the Krakow airport to take you to the hotel and provide you with all the necessary information. At night we propose a typical Polish dinner and, if you want to participate in the Krakow's nightlife, any theater, concert of classical or jazz music or simply a night visit to any of so many local pubs.

Day 2. Guided tour through the centre of Krakow and the Wieliczka Salt Mines

After breakfast in your hotel we invite you to an unforgettable walk through the legendary city of Krakow. We assure you that all the streets which you will visit during this trip have their long-lasting history and that all places on your way can tell you something interesting about past events. Close your eyes and move to that time when kings of Poland, together with their rich processions, were going through Florianska Street towards the Wawel Royal Castle, think about the time when there were feasts in the middle of the Main Square and one could hear the first performance of the Coronation Mass by J.S. Bach in the Wawel Cathedral. Look at the courtyard of the Wawel Castle not only to see it as an interesting place that it is now, but also to recall historical times when it witnessed knights tournaments and kings meetings. Imagine this place as an old seat of the Polish monarchy and a central point of all events and things which can be named simply - Poland...

After lunch in one of the typical Polish restaurants, you will visit with us the true interior of the Earth which can be seen just 10 kilometers south of Krakow, in the small town called Wieliczka where you will find a marvelous Salt Mine listed on the UNESCO World Heritage List. There you will see a mysterious salt world - underground corridors, old mining shafts, chambers which were used for excavating salt for many centuries, beautiful underground lakes and extraordinary salt chapels with original sculptures made by local artists. The atmosphere of this place will make you feel extremely good, its climate healthier and a walk through the mining corridors stronger.

To finish the day well and know a little more about Polish culture, we propose a dinner in a folk restaurant of Wieliczka which is situated just opposite the Salt Mine.

Day 3. Tour around Kazimierz - an old Jewish quarter of Krakow and the trip to the Museum Auschwitz - Birkenau

This day will be probably harder and more reflective, because using the fact you are in Krakow, we would like you to participate in an unusual trip following the trail of Jewish culture and history and to show you what is left from the previous Jewish district which was full of life. Let's take a morning stroll through Szeroka Street where you can still see the famous Remuh Synagogue and Cemetery, then walk through Podgorze district and see the last fragments of the ghetto walls, then visit the real Schindler Factory at Zablocie, which probably sounds familiar because of the movie filmed here. Our desire is to show you the symbolical presence of so many people who lived here and had to abandon this place forever...

In the afternoon we would like to take you to the Museum Auschwitz - Birkenau which was founded on the place of the biggest extermination camp created by Nazis in Europe. We will go there with you and we will try to tell you the story of this place and share your feelings about it.

After the tour and dinner, we will invite you to have a traditional Jewish dinner and to listen to the Klezmer music in the heart of Kazimierz.

Day 4. Zakopane - a folkloristic tour of the city following the traces of the folk culture

After the breakfast in your hotel we will take you to the trip to Zakopane which is extraordinarily picturesque town lying at the foot of the Tatra Mountains. Since the interwar period it has been called, due to the extremely good conditions to practice winter sports, Poland's Winter Capital. We want you to feel the energy pulsating in the mountains when you find yourself here. Of course, the best way to do it is during a couple of hours trip finished with a cup of highland tea in one of Zakopane's mountain shelters. However, if you do not feel strong enough or if you do not feel like going on long walks, we invite you on a short journey by funicular to the top of the Gubalowka Hill from where stretches an unforgettable view of the Tatra Mountains. In the city itself one cannot miss Krupowki - a promenade full of shops, restaurants and clubs that is vibrant with life. One must also see the extraordinary wooden architecture which due to its originality and distinct style was name "zakopanian" architecture. After a whole day of impressions let's have a meal in a regional restaurant! We guarantee that one does not forget the taste of local meals in a mountain scenery so easily...

Day 5. Czestochowa - the spiritual capital of Poland, on the way back to Krakow - Ojcow National Park

Today we invite you to take part in a very special journey deep inside the Polish history and Catholic tradition, to a place which means to many the quintessence of being Polish, the aim of one's life and the reason of taking the burdens of pilgrimage. Regardless of who you are, what religion you are, or what are your judgments and beliefs, we think that the trip to the Black Madonna Sanctuary of Czestochowa is an important stop on the way to understanding what you might be looking for on your voyages...

Being in Czestochowa, apart from the wonderful Basilica with a Chapel of a Black Madonna where you can see a famous Icon, we will also visit the treasury in which gifts and votives offered as tokens of gratitude to the Madonna were gathered.

After a lunch break, we will drive back to Krakow, visiting however on the way ruins of a medieval castle right in the middle of the Ojcow National Park. Being back in Krakow, do not forget about last shopping possibilities! Do it immediately after the trip, because in the evening we propose farewell supper in one of the famous restaurants of Krakow.

Day 6. Departure

Today our only trip would be to the Krakow airport. Please remember that we do not want to take you there only to say "good bye" and to take care of all the departure details, but also to assure you that the country you are leaving is this kind of place which was worth seeing and a place where you can always return. Our desire is also to convince you that we gave you our e-mail addresses not only to fulfill our duty, but also to keep in touch and answer all your questions if you have them after finding yourself back home...
